Bury CC9060 bluetooth car kit and software update

Post27 Mar 2010 18:52

I have the Bury CC9060 bluetooth kit fitted (by VW).
It works fine with my Sony k770i.
I now want a new phone. I've tried a Samsung Tocco Lite and it worked - for a while. Then it stopped reading text messages, so I've had to go back to the Sony.
I've tried my husbands Nokia 5800 - again, no joy.
I think I may need the software updating in the Bury kit as it is quite old software (after checking on the Bury site).
Has anyone had VW do this for them and if so how much does it cost?
I've been on the Bury site but the process of updating the software is too complex for me...

I'm looking at getting a bury kit, except for the problem you're facing, is it any good?
Do you have any pics of the interface mounted?
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi,

I'm really pleased with the car kit. It's a useful piece of kit to make/receive calls and read out your texts when you're driving. It's a shame you can't dictate texts to send too but that's me being picky!!

I would recommend it. Just make sure it's compatible with your phone!

I've taken a photo for you of the display screen in the cradle. It's quite small and doesn't impede vision when driving.

I updated my bury yesterday. I agree with you it's not the most user friendly way of updating. It takes about ten minutes or so depending on your Internet download speed. Only thing I had to buy was a bluetooth USB as my laptop doesn't have it built in. You could use a pc in your home but then you need to get the car within range of it's signal. I found the laptop easier. All the programs you need are on burys download pages. I would say that the vw dealer will not be able to do this for you. If you are trying it fir yourself and get stuck pm me and I'll try to help.

When I tried to update mine from the Bury site it failed as this kit is made for VW and can't be updated from the Bury site? Oh dear, does anybody know of any VW updated software for this kit?

My husband tried to update via the bury site and failed too. His issue was with the Bluesoleil software not working correctly with his bluetooth device. He has tried on two PC's using different bluetooth software. No joy. It really is a complete pain in the a**e.

Contacted Bury and they state that it's up to VW to provide updates for this product and the updates on the Bury site will not work with this version. :?

I'm afraid I've had no experience of updating the kits but hopefully I can clear something up. VW dealers have been offering the Bury kits for a little while. In recent months, VW have approved them as an accessory but renamed them as "VW Touch" kits. Same kit but has a nice VW roundel as the "home" screen. Some of the functionality was lost though. I've noticed on a factory fitted "Touch" kit that you don't have the voice control that I used to have with the retro fitted one.

I would imagine that depending on whether it's a Bury or a VW (bury) Touch kit, this will affect your ability to update it on the website.

I'll try and find out the official line on it and post it up.

the kits are simply rebranded and are bury so there should be no prob updating. the update process is a pain and really should be addressed by bury to make it more user friendly but it does work. i'v edone mine twice.

That's what I was hoping but I tried to update and it failed quoting wrong version program and then contacted Bury who confirmed it can be updated only by VW software update. My unit is a fully functioning one including voice control and text reading but it would be nice to know we can update them.....

if thats the case its bad on the part of vw that they sell these rebranded but cannot be updated.

The fact that you could have bought them cheaper from bury also doesn't help.

I rang my dealer who fitted the kit and when I asked them about updating the software the relpy was that they didn't know anything about updates!!! Says it all about them really.
So I'm going to go in next weekend and take my husbands phone which won't pair with the kit and ask them what they are going to do about it as I was told when I purchased the kit that it would pair with any phone!

Ok, I have got as far as reading the version info back from the CC9060 and it clearly says CC9060_VW_OZ.
So maybe it is only updateable by VW. I have sent an email to Bury with all the details and await a response...

Exactly the same problem for me... I've just returned from the tight confines of my front seat (not meant for using laptops in) and the update won't apply. The same message appears about the 9060_VW_OZ - it's cleary in need of the VW firmware versions.

Unless someone knows where we can download the VW files, I will contact VW Customer Service. The dealers, whilst trying to be helpful, are clueless on this issue!

Have found a German update manager program for the VW versions but can find no updates to use in it!

I think I came across that as well, but my German's not really up to much. Google's translation wasn't a whole lot better, so I left it alone - like you I also couldn't see any update files to go with it.

I'll get in touch with VW today if I get a chance.

Sorry, forgot to post back here. They've (unsurprisingly) not been made aware of any updates. I've asked them to confirm the units they've been installing since mine are not supplied with more up to date firmware. They did say that the price has increased recently (by about £100!) and that they're out of stock waiting for the higher priced units to arrive.

The Touch adapter, for vehicles that already have DIS/FIS factory Bluetooth, is now the £135 option. I actually think VW mixed up the original pricing; making the Touch adapter cheaper that the full Touch Kit was surely a mistake. Glad I got mine at the lower price :)
