Hi Jimso,
To get the best results possible (and this is for any colour car, not just black) we always recommend to pre-wax cleanse then apply a couple of coats of carnauba wax.
There are about a million stages you can go through to get your car looking it's absolute best, and each one of them helps to add to the overall finish in it's own way, but when you're looking at the protection stages, these two are absolute musts.
If your paint has some minor defects such as light swirl marks or small scratches, you could use a pre-wax cleanser such as Dodo Juice Lime Prime, which has micro-abrassives and will help to reduce the defects. If your paint is in good condition already, you won't need to go for a product that has as much bite, and you could go for the Lime Prime Lite instead.

Either of the dark Dodo waxes are good options, Blue Velvet or Purple Haze, but Pinnacle Signautre Series would also be an excellent choice.

As some others have mentioned on different threads in this section, you could also add Poorboys Black Hole in between these two stages, which will make a noticeable difference to the gloss levels and will get the black looking even deeper.
