Iv had mine to 2 seperate garages and they basically blamed it on the supercharger engaging and sort of just shrugged their shoulders! when i told him it wasnt good enough after paying so much money for a car that i wish to enjoy for many years to come he merely gave me a dirty look (as if im being awkward or innappropriate) and passed me a telephone number to make a complaint direct to VW. Obviously i tried it and got knowhere fast and i await their response.......6 weeks ago this was mind!!! Its soo F***in annoying tho unless u play ur music to drown it out! why oh why didnt i get the 2.0!?!! fuel economy is shockin anyway so this is a question i ask myself upon hearing every squeek!!!
If anyone has any joy please let me no.

P.s has anyone had any problems with their wiper blades?? mine are smearing (from new) and the dealer blamed the arms as apposed to the blades themselves and said VW are looking into it!

Dan, the wiper blade issue is a major issue that most Sciroccos have suffered with at some point or other, and this is since launch! Any dealer worth its salt will change the blades and/or the wiper arms without question, however sometimes this hasnt worked either. Make sure you thoroughly clean each blade and your windscreen (Use some decent car window cleaner) and try that first as some people have had success with this. If this still hasnt helped, try new blades (They are Jetta fitments) and also try another dealer if you are having no joy with yours. I appreciate that this may not fully resolve either your 'squeak' or your smeary wipers initially, but a change of dealer can work wonders

Danclark,

Tell your garage to ring VW Stockport as they are fully aware of the problam. Mine is booked in next week to get the squeek sorted. They have to order the bits in advance and its a 4 Hour job to do

My squeaks only just manifest, and only happens if I hit the accelerator fast. As i'm a careful driver this doesn't happen all that often... No smeary wipers yet!

You know what, I feel exactly the same about mine! Reasons I went for the 1.4 were:
1. Much better fuel economy for a relatively small speed/power penalty and still a sporty feel
2. Cheaper purchase price
2. Cheaper running costs (insurance, tax etc)

Now the std 1.4TSI had a list price of about £19.5k, compared to £21.5k for the 2.0TSI GT. But what did I do? I upgraded the alloys, got cruise control and metallic paint so ended up costing just under £21k anyway!

So it was REALLY annoying when I find that I get only 33mpg average after about 2000 miles, and thats with mostly chilled out driving. Thats compared to the 45mpg combined they quote.

I can't remember exactly but I think they quote 35mpg odd for the 2.0??? I'd be interested to know what owners of the 2.0 actually get??? - Think I'll post that elsewhere for better visibility though.

Oh and by the way - mine squeaks but only sometimes and it didn't really bother me until I read this!

I get close to 39mpg on a motorway journeys at around 70mph. I wish i had cruise control, would save so much more. get about 20-30mpg on city driving; stop and start etc. 1.4 isnt MUCH better in my opinion, considering the power gains of 2.0L and standard equipment for the GT.
If your worried alot about petrol and MPG costs, surely a diesel would have been a thought instead of 1.4?
