Funnily enough I had a read of the wording inside my fuel filler cap today (1.4 TSI) and it specified "Super Unleaded 95RON minimum"...perhaps once run in (this tankful..) then might try it on "our" SuperUL - either Shell or BP (most convenient stations on the work commute)

A used to use shell as often as i could although the closest station is a motorway service station and their aint any local ones in town  Guess a'll have to stick to BP unless passing a shell.

I've been using shell optimax / v power for last 7 years. VW recommend you use 98 octane fuel for the 2.0 tfsi engine. Using anything with a lower octane rating will give u lower performance. Fact. The car will run on normal unleaded 95 octane but they say only do this for emergencies and not for regular use.
