The problem with many of the vw modified events is they end up full of clapped out old mk1 and mk2 GTIs... Which to be honest are pieces of shit. Mk3 and 4 are even worse.

I know lots of people like them and mod them significantly... But they are still shitty old bangers from the dark ages of modern motoring.

Don't buy that on bit. The Mk1 and 2 GTi were superb cars in their day and pretty much created the hot hatch market single handedly. What ever we're driving now, Focus ST, Scirocco, GTi, BMW 1M or RS3 - you have those first cars to thank or what you're driving now.

Completely agree about the mods though. They ruin what that car stands for, although the same could be said for what we all do now.

Also agree with you on the 3 and 4. The Mk4 was one of the worst performance cars ever made in my opinion.
Viper Green 2.0 GT TSi, Heated cow-seats, loud speakers, posh matts, Kenwood sat-nav, Lazy driving controls and reversing beeps! :) Mods - Neuspeed P-FLO Kit; APR Stage 2 CF cold-air intake pipe; Neuspeed Engine Mount Insert; APR Stage 1 Remap - 265BHP; WALK (Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit); Lulian V4 LEDs; Gloss Black interior, Scirocco R Gearknob.

The mk1 and 2 were cheap cars... With a bit more a poke than other cheap cars. They may have created a market of hot hatches but that doesn't mean the whole era of motoring was any good.

I personally think most cars that were in the everyday affordable range from the 70s/80s were shit. Its the time of poor quality, crap manufacturing standard and tasteless design.

Go back 20 years before that and you have finely crafted hand made machines. Today you have precision engineering with fault tolerances so low things hardly go wrong.

Then you had cars that rusted within months, failed on a regular basis and had about as much design as a cornflakes packet.

Just my opinion...
