i have 2009 2L tsi 56000km/35000miles

engine management light came on recently so visited garage and found the following error:
Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor Implausible Signal

other than an increase in fuel consumption on the computer there was no other problems i noticed. then car started to misfire after accelerating hard

garage said the misfire was due to a coil and not related. they changed sensor and coil and everything went back to normal. after 5 days engine management light came back on with same sensor warning, and fuel consumption was back up. now they are saying they need to take off intake manifold to check flaps

from searching around ive found nothing about this error on sciroccos, only on some other vw's and audis. could be the same engine im not sure. the result in most of these cases was an intake manifold replacement which isnt good as im out of warranty :(

anyone experienced anything similar? and could it be fixed without replacing the manifold?

Old thread resurrection !!!!!!!
Did you ever get to the bottom of this problem?
My engine management light came on today and on scanning with VCDS,it comes up with the same error code!!
This is worrying to say the least !! I don`t want to be stung for a new manifold !!
Bit annoying as I have not used the car for about three weeks!
Anyone had the same problem or heard of this before??

really? how did you get them to cover 60%? was this your dealer or volkswagen themselves?
because its looking like mine will have to replaced also and its about 10 months out of warranty too
Didn`t really have to try too hard !! They originally quoted ÂŁ530 incl vat and fitting. I thought that this seemed too much for a car with 34k FVWSH and less than four years old.My Vw dealer apparently approached VW and as a gesture of goodwill they offered to pay 60% of the repair!! I was quite happy to take that deal.I was going to fight my corner if they did not come up with anything as this is apparently a know fault (just do a google search and see how common it is!)It could have had much more serious consequences as the flaps can break off and go into the engine destroying it

Sorted VW came good for 60% of the cost(car is out of warranty by about 10 months)
New manifold fitted and car back running a good as ever.
Well done VW
hi there,
can you tell me which dealership this was at ? my intake manifold now needs replacing 3 months out of warranty with only 37k miles. The 'full' price is ÂŁ815 all in but they are applying to VW for goodwill. Any more info you can provide will reinforce my claim.

thanks in advance,
Nick

I've just had my inlet manifold done. My car was out of warranty as of February this year with 38k on the clock. They originally quoted me over ÂŁ700 but asked about a good will gesture. Apparently the discount is done automatically based on info from the vag com, year of car and mileage. Mine went down to ÂŁ317 all in. A bit of a saving I'd say
