Hello folks,
I ordered my Bluefin device yesterday after 3pm, it arrived today (Saturday) before 1pm, next day del was included in the price.

Following the instructions it was pretty easy and straight forward, I didn't feel something didn't work first time etc - software provided only works with Windows, luckily I have a virtual environment of Windows XP on my Mac, so I did it through that.

Please read the onscreen instructions it often says turn ignition on, then scrolls to say DO NOT START ENGINE therefore be patient when remapping yourself. I have attached some photos below - some photos were removed to shorten sequence - finally from opening the box to packing up the stuff after install took around 35 mins - the download email arrived within 2 mins of the upload.

Right just come back after driving around for about an hour - car certainly has changed - I think it will get me some more points on my license :grumpy:

I went from a rolling 3mph - 60mph very rapidly - I'll probably time a 0-60 when I get a chance (and a stop watch), 40-70+ was scary (in a holy f*ck kind of way).

Is the improvement worth the £391.50 - as with any remap your paying for software - but the hard work has already been done by the tuner (tests etc) and your basically paying for that.

With regards to Bluefin (as apposed to a standard remap) your left with a device that can read any errors codes etc so that’s quite nice and you can revert to old, or apply a new map (if they improve your existing one) at no extra cost - where as I'd be expected to pay extra if I got someone to map it for me.

So I'm really happy with what I have, car certainly holds its gear when you put the foot down in 4th, where as before it would drop to 3rd - I dunno but somehow it feels like it's putting more power down evenly - without over-revving the engine - example of this I reached a speed which I'd normally hit in 3rd gear @ 6000rpm, after the remap I reached that same speed @ 4000 rpm.

I'd like to put it on a rolling road to see its max but honestly can't be arsed paying £50.

A thumbs up from me, Superchips sell a solid product and provide great customer service - I spoke to Jamie for about 10 mins before placing my order and didn't feel pressured into the sale in any way at all

PS they also send you a text to say your map is now available for download (I saw my phone after my write-up)

I'll find out next week with regards to improvments in fuel economy etc

Thanks for the write up and all the pics. A great contribution.

What are the expected new bhp/torque figures?

I have to say this is a new product to me. Didn't realise it's so DIY but it look like it gives you a lot of flexibility.

Will go and read up on it now www.mybluefin.co.uk

Approx...

BHP increase : 56
NM gain : 104
Lb/Ft gain : 77

I'll eventually put it on a rolling road but for now just going to see how it feels and how the mpg behaves.

Might seem a stupid question but.... Does your car need to go into the garage first so they can make a map for your car in particular? Or do you just download a 'standard' tuned up map for all sciroccos? Looks a cool product though especially as it reads error codes too.

its a standard generic map, these guys have had about 10 cars at HQ and all the standard maps from the factory have been identical, its not a custom map

It's a generic remap however it is unique to your car, you first connect the handheld device to the car, copy over the factory map, when the device connects to their server it, gets a map that corresponds to your VIN no and engine no - so although its generic the map they send back for your car it won't work on another car as its for your car - hence why you can only use the bluefin for your car only and not remap your friends etc (and make money on the device)

I was planning to get a rolling road remap but having talked to a few people there’s not much point in paying the extra for that as I don't have non-standard parts i.e. a better air in-take, better coolers etc etc

I love the fact I can switch between them as I please without having to go back to the tuner each time - plus I have a device to read error codes - for all VAG vehicles that have the same port.

The live remap for me locally was £495 - this has by far been the best £391.50 I have ever spent.

Knowing what I know now, I'm glad I didn't pay the extra premium to have someone remap it for me and give me a piece of paper with the increase in power - I can feel the increase in power so don't need a paper.

I'd consider a live remap (rolling road) if I had performance parts installed in the future - but I'm only planning to replace the stock air filter so can't see that happening :D

Robrob, don't just take my word for it, give them a call find out more about the product and if you think it's something for then go for it. - the only downside for me is I wish I had done it sooner but it only came out on Friday

When I called them I asked things like what happens if I **** it up etc - they explained that the device can handle situations where people pull the cable out halfway through a remap - when you plug it back in it can virutally remap the ecu regardless of any state it may be in - unless its physically damaged etc

Oh I forgot to mention it has a built in feature to immobilise a vehicle, so if your going a way for a long time or for whatever reason you can take off the map and render the car useless as it won't start even with the key. If you lose your actual device, Superchips can send you out another unit with your original config file stored on it - yes they keep a copy!

Sorry just read your profile you have DSG please disregard stupid me!!!!!!

What are your thoughts about the whole experience now with DSG does it never get itself in a puddle or is this all hype because ive only ever heard good stories accross sites for SUPERCHIPS and Jamies work :p

The only worry i have is that i been into tuning for a long time and not one car is the same as another so could the generic map be a problem in some cases or are they well within the thresold for tuning to counteract this type of issue :?:

Forgive me for the questions im just generally interested and for 25k+ with extras i dont want a DEAD ROC

Im sure all the math is done to equate for the map so just put ur foot down enjoy and go ST/VXR/TYPER Slaying

Yeah the whole experience was great, car feels stronger, I haven't felt it sweat so far, where as before when pushing it hard you could hear the engine making a fuss.

I shared your concern of having bought a £25k and not making it useless, but the remaps are perfectly safe - also your correct not 2 cars are the same, the one behind mine in the production line would have been slightly different too - but the generic remap is fine - you can however if you want go along to Superchips and get a custom map for your car and they'll program a bluefin device for you to keep too - However up here in Scotland I didn't have that luxury - but believe me I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Only thing I'd say is let your car run in first, then do the remap after 3k miles - as if you had any issues early on at least you'll know for sure they were down to the manufacturer and not the remap.

There was talk about getting the torque level right otherwise it messes up the DSG (this is true) - Superchips tested the DSG model for a long time before releasing it - I've been emailing them since October and the DSG version came out much later than the Manual - again I have 100% confidence in their remap now.

mancsdave i had one of the first manual maps on a customer car and run it remapped for over 2,500 miles with no issues, another willing volunteer has had his dsg done for a number of weeks, we both give feedback on the maps and experience and will not doubt try any tweaked or revised maps, since my handset arrived i have but it back to standard and remapped without any issues

higher up the speed range its upset a few R32 owners and now feels more spritely than our standard K04 equipped GTI, the Bluefin route may not be everyones cup of tea but ticked the boxes i wanted

engine wise bog standard bar remap, driving charateristics as normal only stronger, car has never suffered from lag, real difference is over 3,000rpm, fuel economy for normal day to day has improved noticably

Thats interesting to know as my friend has a 07plate R32 and i never could get near him in my GTsport TDI 140 and heaven knows i tried ,,,They launch off the line like a scolded cat ," saying that i had no tread on fron tyres at all , tyres make a big difference and now no wheelspin but still no chance especially after 50mph."

Think i may upset him in a mapped ROC one thinks

When i sat in one in the dealers it was like so me everything about it driving position the lot, my car will be used for work and i intentionally went in for a golf mk6 but they look tame when sat next to brand new ROC.

So i convinced work into one my only worry will be the boot space but hey ho i will just live with it

The only communication specialist in manchester with a ROC how god dam cool will i be

Sorry little off topic im so excited can.t help it :D
