It wasn't me - honest Guv!

With the lighter and drier nights I noticed a spot of oil on the drive last weekend. Took the 'Roc in on Thursday and, horror of horrors, it needs a NEW engine!

Apparently something has a hairline fracture and needs replacing, so I'm driving around in a 1.4 Golf until they fix my little baby.

And I'd nearly gotten it run-in too.

Sorry to hear your having trouble. It really is fun once you get to open it up.

That's not good. How many miles did you get to do?

Ask to see what the cost of the new engine was, it would be interesting to see the invoice.

What's that... running in, have I woken up in life on mars?

Did you have a little notice in the back window stating "running in please pass"?

AFAIC it's a pointless exercise these days, and has been for a long time, why do you think tmanufacturers don't put running in oil in new cars anymore? Could it be becasue there is no debris and small particulate matter that needs to be removed from the engine in the first 500-1000 mile oil change?

p.s. Sorry to hear about the dead donk... hope you get it back on the road really soon for a sound thrashing :p :p :p
