In short, yes, but unless it is directly attributable to the remap most dealers dont care (as they are getting paid for the warranty work by VW) if you do have an issue then as long as you use a reputable remap they should provide a warranty that steps in.
When I spoke to the dealer about the fact that VW offered the 140 diesel not the 170, his comment was that you can have a remap to get the same power or more without affecting the warranty. Yet to be tested!
Thanks for the replies guys. Quite interested in the BlueFin idea for the TDi - think this is said to be available soon. I guess with this you could return it to the standard map before any dealer work if you wanted.
Regarding insurance costs, it depends. On my TT it was an extra 25 quid with Frizzell, but some people have been quoted hundreds. Teaso are quite good, they have a fixed rate up to 25% additional power IIRC.
