I know this has kinda been done to death but...

When a VW garage refuses to turn off your DRL's is it because:

1) They cant physically do it because they need some sort of code from VW HQ and they cant get it?

or

2) They dont want to do it incase they get 'told off' by VW HQ

All the VW dealers local to me (Preston NW) wont help me out on this one, so i was thinking of tryng to find an independant garage with VAGCOM. But if you do need some sort of special code i'll be wasting my time???

I don't really mind my DRLs either - and not sure that people really think you're a noob with them on, given 1) loads of other cars now seem to have them and 2) so few Rocs about that it's unlikley they'll have seen another one with DRLs disabled to make a comparison

I think it has been said before, but you can just have the side lights running. I do this as they are the dimmest and smallest lights you can have running.

I'd like to have auto lights function switched on but just have my wee side lights on. Is this possible when the DRLs are switched off or can they be recoded so that the sidelights come on in place of the dipped beam as a DRL?
