Hi guys,
I know this one has been done to death already but I'm looking for some more help due to the fact that my dealer is useless. I brought my 2.0 TSI in for a service today to get rid of this dash rattle and explained that this was a known issue and Volkswagen have a service bulletin on it. My dealer said they had not heard of this issue before and were unable to find the service bulletin.

Is there an actual service bulletin number I can quote or can someone provide me with a dealer name that has sorted this issue out for them so I can at least contact someone who knows what's going on?

Appreciate any help I can get.
Lovin my Roc more every day,
Cheers guys,
Brian

Hi guys,
some feedback on this one. Finally got is sorted yesterday. There's a metal plate that goes across the underside of the windshield used for mounting the wiper motors. It's fitted right up against the underside of the windshield which causes the rattle. Fix was to simply seperate the two with some insulating foam. Silence is indeed golden...

Hey man,

Does this rattle sound like it's coming from the footwell/raintray area?

I have a rattle coming from there on cold start and pull away!

Think I have this problem too, does this require a large amount of work to get at, from inside the cabin or from the engine compartment to get at? The rattle, from top middle of the dash above the air vents, was not there on Monday when it was all nice and hot.

I have this I think, just bought a 2nd hand 140 TDI (10 plate) this is the only snagging item left on my list of things with with dealer, who I paid a premium with, but they don't want to cover the cost of this investigation!

Have been out this afternoon looking for this one ... found it I hope!

With the car stopped on an slight upward incline with engine going on tickover, the rattle was there. Put the wipers on, the noise stopped, stop the wipers after a couple of seconds the resonance increased from very quiet to a noticeable rattle over about 3s, this was repeatable. Pressed down on many places in side the dash I could reach, noise did not stop.

Nobody was a round to help, so turned off the engine and now tapped along the wiper blades and the rain tray, nothing rattled. Then tapped the wiper arms and found the mounting of the wiper motor in the middle of the windscreen could move a little and create a rattle. Will be talking to the dealer on Monday.
