Debadge or not?

Hmmm...picked up my new Scirocco the other day, from spotting other cars on the road and the publicity shots I wasnt that fussed about the badging before that I mean GT TDI 2.0 didt look out of place and I always thougfht debadging was what you did if you had a 316 you were pretending was a 330...however on picking it up the car the badging seems to have grown to cover 1/2 the boot lid and the 'Bluemotion Technology' badge looks like one of those embossed badges that where all the rage with car dealers a few years ago...

i intend to keep the Scirocco badging, any views one way or the other on debadging the other stuff?

Any pics of a Deep Black car without the badges would be a bonus!

Yep debadged mine. Probably even if I had a GTi Golf etc I would debadge it. I don't buy a car to flaunt it to others - I buy it for me and most cars look better (with some exceptions) with no boot badges.

Washed & polished the for the first time today...by the end of the process the rear was clear of badges...looks so much better without...if it had just been badges up GT 2.0 TDI would probably have been left butvte Bluemotion sticker a) was ugly & b) seemed against the point on the Scirocco...

As an aside, given how easy they were to get off (even without using a hair drier) surprised there aren't Sciroccos driving around 1/2 debadged from visiting the car wash!

I removed all the lettering but put two of the letters back on. :D

and painted the bonnet and boot emblems black.

I think it looks much better.
I'm considering doing the same to mine! think it looks really good, did u use the favoured hairdryer technique?

What adhesive did you use to stick the badges back on once they were painted black?
you use badge tape its like a foam double sided sticky tape

I took advantage of it being a very warm day and parked the car in the sun. The badges came off a treat.

I raided my fathers garage as he still had some tape left over from working in the auto industry.

There's a link to the tape on the thread below.

Thanks guys, went out and bought the primer, deep black spray and laquer last night so it's going to be all guns ahead this weekend! Regarding the tape to put them back on, some people recommended number plater tape so i invested in some 1mm stuff from halfords (opposed to 6mm - didn't really fancy the badges sticking out that much!) Only problem being that the tape is white (my car is black) but i'm pretty confident that due to how thin it is it shouldn't show, i'll also avoid putting the tape to near to the edges of the badges. Looking forward to the result!! :D
